I love it when the postman brings wood to my door, especially when it's Indian Rosewood. It's a little bit of a crap shoot buying instrument wood sight-unseen, but I have had good luck with several suppliers, and this time is no exception.
I'm looking forward to resawing this billet into backs and sides, and maybe a few fingerboards and bridges. I like using Ebony for those, but I occasionally get a request for rosewood.
I worry a bit about the future because it doesn't seem like any of the rosewoods are sustainably managed, and they are probably all going to go the way of Brazilian. Not that Black Walnut doesn't make just as beautiful and fabulous sounding guitars, but nobody will buy those. I guess that will change eventually..
